Local Bocal January 2021

Dear Double Reeders,

Happy New year to you all and we hope that 2021 will be a whole lot better that 2020. We mustn’t become complacent but it seems as though we have a few reasons to be optimistic. Baby steps!

Your ADRSSA Committee met on Monday night and regretfully accepted the resignation of Mark Gaydon who has withdrawn after many years of service. On your behalf we thank him for his contribution to both ADRS as President and ADRSSA.

We made some plans for 2021 starting with the famous and traditional Quiznic. This will be held
at Josie and Tom Hawkes’ place on Saturday (not so traditional) 6th March from 2:30-5:30. Bookings are essential(This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) so get your diaries organised, think of donating goods for prizes and await further instructions closer to the day.

We are also working on organising a “Big Blow” because we know this is a very popular activity. We are trying to formulate a list of venues which can accommodate a fairly large group and still be Covid-safe The committee is contacting local possibilities. If you have any suggestions for suitable venues let us know and we’ll look into them.

We are also looking to update our mailing list. If you know of any students or teachers please check that they are on our list and let us know if they would like to be added. It will ensure they receive the most up-to-date news of all things Double Reed.

Please consider joining the national society ADRS which will give you access to the Journal “Reeding Matter” produced right here in SA as well as national and international news and opportunities. Go to the website and click” join us”. This will also entitle you to discounts on all ADRSSA activities throughout the year.

Please contact us if you have any suggestions for any other events or initiatives we could take that would be suitable for 2021.

Best wishes
